Braves starter Kyle Wright has struggled so far but should have a strong bounce back here. Wright tossed 11 scoreless innings in two starts against the Marlins last season.
Marlins starter Braxton Garrett had a 1.69 ERA in two starts against the Braves last season.
The first four games of the series have been high scoring, but I see that going the other way early Friday.

I expect the Orioles to win convincingly on Thursday. Despite the Tigers playing well against the Brewers, the Orioles have a huge edge in the starting pitching advantage, including a slightly stronger bullpen. Baltimore also has a superior offense, ranking in the top-11 in scoring, home runs, and OPS, while the Tigers are in the bottom five in those categories. The Orioles have won six straight games over losing ball clubs, and I will take them to come out on top and end up with another victory over the Tigers.

Analysis:

Elite pitchers Shane McClanahan and Dylan Cease square off in a rematch of this past Saturday's game. Both started in that game. McClanahan held the White Sox to two runs on three hits with 10 strikeouts and one walk in six innings. Tampa Bay won that game, 4-3, in extra innings.

I don't anticipate seven runs being scored in this rematch. Both teams are swinging cold bats.

The Rays haven't scored in their last two games. The White Sox also haven't scored in their past two games. Chicago has managed just six runs in its last five games.

McClanahan is in Cy Young Award form. He's 4-0 with a 1.86 ERA. Cease is 2-0 with a 2.73 ERA.

The weather portends a low-scoring game, too. The forecast is for temperature in the low 50's dipping into the 40's as the game progresses with the wind blowing in at 8-to-10 mph.

Analysis:


Perhaps they feel less pressure. Some teams just play better on the road, especially when it counts the most.

The Rangers are such a team. New York rolled past the Devils, 5-1 in both Games 1 and 2, in this first-round series. Both wins were at New Jersey.

But then the Rangers seemed to play tight and without Stanley Cup playoff intensity when they returned home, losing a pair of close games to the Devils.

Now the Rangers go back to New Jersey - and I'm expecting them to win this Game 5 there.

New York is 4-1 in its past five away contests. The Rangers have defeated the Devils in eight of the last 11 meetings in New Jersey.

Look for a great effort from the Raƒngers after their coach, Gerard Gallant, ripped them for their poor play at home.

The Devils are braced for a strong Rangers' performance.

"We are going to see their best game," Devils coach Lindy Ruff said of the Rangers. "There is no doubt, by far, we will see their best game.''

I believe him.

3* Celtics -3.5 1H - I've watched this line go all the way to -7 which I must admit did surprise me a bit, especially with a home team facing elimination. Honestly, after Boston let Atlanta in the back door at home, they don't want a game seven, not that they ever would but Atlanta has confidence which can be a dangerous team to play. Atlanta is the #7 seed and it's highly unlikely that both the #1 and #2 seeds loýse in the first round. However, with the Bucks getting beat last night that has to put more fuel to Boston's fire, both knowing it IS possible to lose AND knowing that they won't have to play Milwaukee. It's defense that wins championships and Boston has seen about enough of Atlanta's offense. They are -7 for a reason, but I will take them 1H because we saw what CAN happen in game five.
